Our Class: Duke Street Primary School, Chorley
CHILDREN at Duke Street Primary School in Chorley are renowned for their musical talents.
So teachers turned the tables on them when the youngsters were treated to a foot-stomping musical assembly led by tutors from the Lancashire Music Service.
The school has just received a glowing Ofsted report, which among other things saw inspectors praising the children's public musical performances.
This time though it was the turn of the children to listen to professional musicians as they put in lively performances of pieces from the 16th to the 20th centuries including The Beatles and The Flintstones theme.
Headteacher Andrew Kidd said: "It was a foot tapping, hand clapping experience which will live long in the memory."
Ofsted inspectors were impressed with the welcoming atmosphere and good level of concern for individuals at Duke Street, which they said leads to pupils feeling safe and valued.
Behaviour was also applauded and inspectors said that care, guidance and support for pupils "is given a high priority, contributes well to pupils' good personal development and well-being and ensures they are safe and well cared for".
Mr Kidd was singled out for praise for his "caring and strong leadership has created a purposeful, industrious and lively environment to promote pupils' well-being and learning."
