Nursery praised for its training
A Preston-based nursery chain is celebrating after being named the region's best for training apprentices.
Rosy Apple Childcare, which runs three nurseries in Preston, was named the North West apprentice employer of the year by the Learning and Skills Council.
The company currently has 13 modern apprentices, with 11 studying child care and two in business administration at their sites in Herschell Street, Chatburn Road and Ribbleton Hall Drive.
Managing director Sharon Alexander said: "We are able to offer young people access to employment at a very early stage in their careers and we support the new specialised diploma for 14 to 19-year-olds.
"Our apprentices train to NVQ level 2 and can then advance to NVQ level 3 and gain promotion within the company."
The apprentice employer of the year awards have been designed to recognise and reward employers who are successfully using apprentices to improve their business and tackle skills shortages.
Rosy Apple will now go through to the national final on July 16.
