Lizzie yearns to be a Bobby

A life of crime is definitely reaping rewards for Lizzie Porter.

The 21-year-old from Heysham had just graduated from UCLan with a merit for her foundation degree in policing.

During her two-year course the former Our Lady’s Catholic College scholar was working as a Special Constable in Lancaster.

And, although she has only just finished her course she has already signed up as a PCSO (Police Community Support Officer) and is currently undergoing training.

Lizzie said: “I plan to be a police officer and have become a PCSO to get some experience and then hope to move on to become a PC.

“I would like to join the support unit ultimately.”

She has already had a taste of what the job entails after spending 10 weeks with the response team – and loved every minute of it.Lizzie said:“I always wanted to be a teacher, but just changed when I was doing my GCSEs.

“I like the idea of going to work and not knowing what is in store every day.

“With this job you don’t know what you’ll be doing from one minute to the next the variety is so great.”
