Lancashire A-Level results: Summer of celebration

Teenagers across the county have been up since at the crack of dawn waiting to get their A-Level results.

For many, years of hard work paid off as students at colleges and sixth forms celebrated another year of outstanding grades .

Despite changes to some subjects, which meant exams at the end of two years instead of the previous modular system, many centres saw a host of students notching up straight A* and A grades.

While nationally, the numbers of students applying for university is said to be down this year, centres including Runshaw in Leyland and Preston’s Cardinal Newman College saw a bevy of youngsters being accepted to some of the nation’s prestigious universities including Oxford and Cambridge as well as Imperial College London and Edinburgh.
