Getting physical was definitely the order of the day for pupils at one West Lancashire Primary School.

Pupils at Holy Trinity CE in Tarleton were on top from when Jonny Urszuly spent a day with them in school, giving displays and passing on advice and tips to the eager youngsters.

The former gymnast-turned- personal trainer has recently been crowned the Last Man Standing on the hit ITV show Ninja Warrior UK and became the second man in history to reach the third stage final of the TV show.

Jonny, who lives in Maghull but trains in Ormskirk, spent the day at the school on Church Road putting the children through their Ninja Warrior paces.

He had worked out a special obstacle course with Miss Wendy Jagger, a teacher from the school who also appeared on the show.

This was intended to be fun while challenging all the children from the different year groups to push themselves that little bit further.

Headteacher Stephen Smith said: “When the children were told on Monday during assembly that Jonny was coming, they were so amazed that all you could hear for about 10 seconds were gasps of astonishment… then they let rip with a massive cheer”

When he was asked whether he was going to take part again next year, Jonny answered with a definite yes as he wants to defend his title and become the first person in UK history to complete the whole course and be crowned Ninja Warrior UK.

Mr Smith said he was delighted that Jonny had taken time off form his busy schedule to spend a day at the school.

The day had undoubtedly enthused staff and pupils alike.
