Parents and schools are being offered a chance to showcase their talents, in the annual Lancashire Evening Post Education Awards.

These awards will celebrate primary and secondary education across Preston and Central Lancashire.

Sponsored by Preston’s College and BAE Systems, the awards will highlight and celebrate the very best students, teachers, schools and employees in the area.

The aim is to officially recognise the achievements that schools and pupils make within the education sector on a daily basis.

There are 11 different award categories.

These are: School of the Year - Secondary and Primary, Pupil of the Year – Secondary and Primary, Sustainable School, Sports Achievement, Inspirational Teacher, Unsung Hero, Young Scientist/Engineer, Career Aspiration and Educational Tours.

Each category has its own criteria for nomination, which you can see on www.lep.co.uk.

Readers are being invited to play a key role in making sure the right people are recognised by nominating worthy candidates.

Once we have received all the nominations they will be whittled down into a shortlist.

That list of nominees from each award category will be invited to a glittering awards evening at Preston’s Charter Theatre on Tuesday July 1.

Check out the website for the categories and please send your nominations to: competitions@lep.co.uk by Monday 2nd June
