Five set to study at Oxford Uni
Places: Charlotte Redmond, James Powell, Natalya Filvarova, Andrew Johnson, Lucia Turner and Simon Whittle
Five students are celebrating after gaining places at Oxford University.
The students from Stonyhurst College in Clitheroe, will read a range of subjects at the university.
Lucia Turner from Hurst Green has been offered a place to study Medicine at Lincoln College.
James Powell from Clitheroe will read Law at Lady Margaret Hall.
Lucia and James have both have attended Stonyhurst since Year Seven.
Charlotte Redmond from Rossendale, Stonyhurst’s Head Girl, will read Biomedical Science at St Catherine’s College.
Simon Whittle, a boarder at Stonyhurst from Bromsgrove, will read Philosophy and Theology at St Benets Hall.
Simon and Charlotte have been pupils at the school since Year Nine.
Natalya Filvarova, from Ukraine, who joined the school for the sixth form, will read Experimental Psychology at Queen’s College.
Stonyhurst’s headmaster, Andrew Johnson, said: “It is incredibly difficult to get into Oxford or Cambridge. I am delighted with the achievements of these five young people. Their success is the result of sheer hard work and the excellent support they have received from their teachers.”
