Graduates from the University of Cumbria will celebrate with their families and friends next week , receiving their degrees and awards at a ceremony in Carlisle
Cathedral.

Spread over three days, the ceremonies will see more than 1,100 students collecting their accolades at nine different ceremonies.

Besides their own success, the students will also be helping mark the last series of graduations from vice-chancellor Professor Peter Strike, who is retiring after five years at the helm.

He said: “This will be a poignant week for me.

“I’ve always felt that our graduation ceremonies represent the best of what we do: preparing our graduates for rewarding careers in their chosen areas and, through events such as these, acknowledging their hard work and commitment in this way.

“I have presided at more than 70 ceremonies during my time at the University of Cumbria and I will greatly miss these occasions and the opportunity they offer to send our new graduates on their way with our best wishes.”

The ceremonies will also see five separate Honorary Fellowships handed out to special guests.
