SCHOOL trips are not what they used to be as parents of pupils at All Hallows Catholic High School in Penwortham know well.
The School was last year’s winner of the Education Tours category in the LEP Education Awards.
Gone are they days when a school trip simply involved a visit to the seaside, farm or theatre. These days pupils can find themselves on a geography excursion examining the Grand Canyon in the USA, skiing down the Alps or navigating their way around European arts galleries.
This award recognises educational visits that have empowered a student to discover a new way of learning and is being sponsored by WST is an educational tour operator, based in Blackpool.
A spokesman said: “WST is about helping teachers take students out of the classroom to enjoy new experiences and cultures. We provide a tailor made experience with exceptional customer service from beginning to end. We are delighted to support Education Awards in the North West for the 3rd year running. There is no better way to discover more about how education is developing and changing in our region than meeting with teachers at these events. It’s a pleasure to reward teachers and their students for participating in and benefiting from ‘Learning Outside the Classroom.’
