BOOST: Prestons College in Fulwood is now rated good by Ofsted

A college has been given a boost by Ofsted following its latest inspection.

Preston’s College had been branded “satisfactory” after the government watchdog’s previous visit, but has now been graded as “good” with a number of areas rated “outstanding”.

The college was inspected in November this year and bosses praised its enterprising vision, high quality of provision, proactive approach to safeguarding and highly effective support for students.

The latest report, published this week, highlights the quality and breadth of provision across all sector areas and at all levels.

No element of the whole inspection report was graded less than “good”.

The college was recognised for its partnerships with schools, employers and community groups, which the report gave an “outstanding” rating.

Inspectors said: “The college ethos and environment are inclusive and provide a positive learning environment in which all learners are welcomed. Care, guidance and support for all learners are very good.”

College principal and chief executive Lis Smith said: “I am delighted that Ofsted has recognised the significant improvements that have taken place at Preston’s College in recent years and the journey that we are on to always continue to improve.

“What this demonstrates above all else is that, whilst the college has always had areas of real excellence with learners achieving fantastic and award winning outcomes, the college is now consistently delivering that for learners across all areas of its activities.

“I am immensely proud of the work we do at the college and with the way staff and students have embraced the vision of an enterprising college at the heart of its community, delivering provision that meets the needs of the community and our local businesses.”
