Parents at Duke Street Nursery, in Chorley, were encouraged by a government minister to see if their two-year-old qualified for free childcare.
Childcare minister Sam Gyimah visited the nursery on Thursday and is pictured with Jessica and Corey.
Parents were encouraged to check if their two-year-old was eligible for 15 hours free childcare a week.
The visit comes after new figures show that around half of parents in Lancashire are not snapping up the free care.
Mr Gyimah spent time at the nursery interacting with youngsters, playing in the sand pit and painting pictures, as well as holding a talk with some of the children.
