School is about more than exam success - as any teacher will tell you.
Pupils, parents and staff are being offered a chance to celebrate primary and secondary education across Preston and central Lancashire in the annual Lancashire Evening Post Education Awards 2014.
Sponsored by Preston’s College and BAE Systems, the awards will showcase and celebrate the very best students, teachers, schools and employees in the area – including an Unsung Hero Award which will focus on paying tribute to those who make a significant contribution to the school community behind the scenes and have a positive impact on day to day life.
We are inviting Post readers to get involved and support these awards by nominating worthy candidates.
There are 11 different award categories: School of the Year - Secondary and Primary, Pupil of the Year – Secondary and Primary, Sustainable School, Sports Achievement, Inspirational Teacher, Unsung Hero, Young Scientist/Engineer, Career Aspiration and Educational Tours.
Each category has its own criteria for nomination, which you can see on www.lep.co.uk
A host of different businesses and organisations are joining in the celebrations by sponsoring the awards.
The nominations will be whittled down into a shortlists and those nominees will be invited to an awards ceremony at Preston’s Charter Theatre on Tuesday July 1.
The shortlisted nominees will be invited to the evening.
Please send your nominations to: firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday June 2.
