Business brains head to Palace

A team of young entrepreneurs from AKS are travelling to London next week as finalists in Dragon's Den supremo Peter Jones' nationwide enterprise competition, Tycoon in Schools.

The six Year 12 students from the Lytham school are one of eight teams attending Buckingham Palace for the final awards ceremony on 
Monday.

They officially launched their business idea, The Lytham Christmas Company, to the market in October, producing rustic reindeers as festive gifts.

Headmaster Mike Walton said: “Following the success of our student Tycoons last year, with Essence Candles named runners up, we are delighted that our teams were again so creative this year.

“With the Lytham Christmas Company being invited to Buckingham Palace for the finals, I can honestly say the spirit of entrepreneurship at AKS is flying high – our students know this competition adds such value to their educational experience”.

Team member Ben Smyth said: “Being named as finalists is unbelievable.

“Tycoon in Schools is an amazing experience.”
