New students at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) enjoyed a fun-filled welcome to life in Preston.
While they collected the keys to their halls of residence, entertainment was provided in the form of Titan the Robot, a comedy string quartet, magicians, musicians, balloon modellers and stilt walkers.
In the evening, at the Students’ Union, the newcomers took part in events including indoor kayaking, ultimate dodgeball, bungee runs, table tennis and a dance off.
Lee Mac, the UCLan Students’ Union president, said: “We’re delighted with how successful the Welcome Weekend has been.
“The assortment of activities on offer during the day meant our new students and their families could join in the fun together.
“The evening events proved very popular as the new intake came together, got to know about the University and started to make what will become life-long friends.” About 6,000 undergraduates, postgraduates, foundation and part-time students will study at UCLan during the 2014-15 academic year.
They will take part in activities during Welcome Week, all this week, before teaching starts on September 22.
