A dog has died following a serious blaze at a home in Preston.

Fire crews fought to save the Alsatian-type dog, after they were called to the fire in Moorside Avenue, Ribbleton.

The fire broke out in a first-floor bedroom, and three fire engines raced to the scene at about 8.10pm on Wednesday.

The house was severely damaged by the fire, and firefighters used breathing apparatus, a hose reel and a fan.

Nobody else was in the house at the time.

More to follow.
