Delivery giant’s new depot

Business news from the Lancashire Evening Post

Business news from the Lancashire Evening Post

Delivery giant Parcelforce is relocating its Lancashire depot to an industrial estate at the heart of the county’s motorway network.

The group, a subsidiary of Royal Mail, has confirmed it has let a 96,950 sq ft unit at Walton Summit, near Bamber Bridge, close to the M61, M65 and M6 motorways.

It will see it shut its existing depot on Tomlinson Road, Leyland.

Daniel Burn, director at Jones Lang LaSalle which completed the letting for landlord Freshwater Property Management, said it was the latest in a number of deals as part of a £75m investment the UK network.

He said: “While there are big challenges facing traditional retailers, strong growth in e-commerce is continuing to drive demand for strategically located distribution space.

“This is the fourth deal we have completed for Parcelforce in recent months and we’re continuing to support the business’ expansion plans in the North West.”

Earlier this year, Parcelforce Worldwide confirmed it plans to open a 120,000 sq ft regional distribution hub at Revolution Park at Buckshaw Village, between Chorley and Leyland.

Jones Lang LaSalle also advised the landlord alongside joint agents Bailey Deakin and Hamiltons.
