Businesses in part of Lancashire are to be consulted on the future of town centres.
Wyre Council is finalising a document called Investing in Your Town Centres, which will then go out to consultation in the business community.
The consultation documents include a background paper, a map of the ‘Primary Shopping Areas’ and a list of consultees for each of the five towns featured – including Garstang.
The idea of the project is to gather business-related ideas that will help enhance the vitality of the towns.
It is hoped that by working with businesses, council bosses will have a better chance of securing funding for improvements.
The matter is due to be discussed at a full council meeting on Thursday.
In addition, a report is due to be submitted to the council’s cabinet in September to request £35,000 for a business support grant scheme called ‘Get Rewyred’.
It is intended that the cash will be used to help businesses that may be on the verge of closure.
