Trade union members are encouraging people to get involved with Workers’ Memorial Day.
The annual event will be held on Saturday April 26 this year, and plans are being put in place for the day.
Organisers said there will be a short speech from Preston MP Mark Hendrick on the Flag Market, followed by a procession down Friargate to the workers’ memorial statue on Lune Street, where commemorative wreaths will be laid for people who died at work.
It will be followed by food and drinks at the Black Horse pub.
Dave Savage, of Preston and South Ribble Trades Union Congress, said: “We come together to support the nearest and dearest of those who have lost loved ones, to say we are very sorry for their loss and we will stand alongside you today and campaign with you in the future to put an end to this tragic situation.”
