Members of The Amanda Rogers School of Dance and Performing Arts will be performing outside the Cinderella castle on Wednesday July 27.

They will carry out a 20-minute piece called Dance through the Decades, with routines starting from the 1920s, all the way through the decades to 2016.

The school earned a slot when they submitted a DVD of dancers performing a fantasy piece of Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and Magic to Do from the musical Pippin last year.

Ever since then, the 35 boys and girls aged from seven to 21 have been rehearsing with the support of 10 staff at Hutton Grammar School.

Dance leader Amanda Rogers said: “This is a great opportunity for all the students, as to dance within Disney will hold so many memories for years to come, rehearsals have been tough but I feel that I need to take as near a professional team as possible and this is what we have created. The students are so excited and they deserve praise.

“I would like to thank all the students and staff for their hard work and for the parents who have ensured the pupils have been there for rehearsals, everyone who is coming on this trip to support and watch us is in for a great treat.

“I also wish to thank Sally Faye Whitaker and Zak Yates who have choreographed most of the routine and Paula Weston, the school’s PA, who has co-ordinated all the arrangements from travel to ordering costumes.”
