Dance team set for top Jacko tribute show
Students at a Preston dance school are set ti take to the stage with some of the hottest acts around for a Michael Jackson tribute.
Eden Singleton, 12, Matt Barker, 14, Lewis Danson, 11, Rachael Taylor, 15, 14-year-old Charlotte Briggs and William Blackburn, also 14, will perform in the show at Blackpool Opera House.
The talented six, who train at Dance With Passion in London Road, Preston, have been selected to join Britain's Got Talent
winners George Sampson and Diversity, finalists Signature and the Filipino All Stars for the show next Sunday.
Proud principal Jason Parkinson said: "We got a phone call asking if we could perform. We were honoured to be asked. The kids are buzzing."
The youngsters, who make up a Latin formation team, will perform a rumba and a cha cha cha to the sell-out crowd.
And they've had just six hours of rehearsals to perfect the routines to two of Jacko's hits – the number one Blood on the Dance Floor and Whatever Happens.
Will, of Ingol, who showed off his version of the 'Moonwalk' during rehearsal, said: "I'm really looking forward to it. It is probably the biggest thing I've done in my life so far."
Rachael, of Walton-le-Dale, said: "There's loads of training to try and get better. I'm looking forward to performing with Diversity as they were the (Britain's Got Talent) winners."
Lewis, of Deepdale, said: "I'm a big Michael Jackson fan – my favourite song is Thriller."
Charlotte, of Bamber Bridge, said: "I train a lot to prepare for dancing and make myself get better."
The event, which is the finale of the UDO World Street Dance Championships, will see hundreds of talented youngsters taking part.
But the Dance with Passion team are the only Latin group involved.
Jason added: "This will be the first time a street dance show has got a Latin American formation team. It's a great testament to them. We've only had two sessions to prepare, but they're working very hard. We can't wait to get there."
The show has proved so popular a matinee performance has been put on to cope with demand.
Tickets cost 20 for adults and 15 for children and are available at the theatre box office.
