A huge retail unit which has lay empty for a number of months has been given a new lease of life.
The unit on North Road in Preston which used to be home to Dreams bed shop has now be transformed into a new bike shop.
Evans Cycles has taken over the unit and is set to open tomorrow.
County Coun Carl Crompton welcomed the revival of the site.
He said: “It is excellent news. We have also had an application to convert units on the same site into a gym which have been passed.
“It means an unused site will be brought back in to use.”
The shop sells a range of gear include top of the range bikes, clothing and accessories.
The popularity of cycling in Preston has grown rapidly in recent years, particularly following the opening of the Guild Wheel to mark the Guild celebrations back in 2012.
The route is now used by keen cyclists from near and far.
It has also been suggested that cycling champion Sir Bradley Wiggins has encouraged more people than ever before to get on their bikes.
Evans was established in 1921 and today it has more than 50 stores across the country.
The new store in Preston is the company’s first venture in Lancashire. In the North West the chain has stores in Manchester and Liverpool.
Evans Cycles was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
