Ten years after first saying ‘hello’ to one another at a friend’s wedding, Clare Horner and Jonathan Sinclair were saying ‘I do’ on their own special day.

The couple, who live in Leyland, met back in September 2005 and went on to have two children, William and Alice.

Speaking of the 2014 proposal, maths teacher Clare says: “The proposal was a complete surprise; after two children and many years together, I was beginning to think there wasn’t going to be one!

“It was my birthday on May 24 and it came and went without much celebration or exciting presents, which I was secretly disappointed about.

“But on the morning of Friday, May, 30 I was lying in bed at home, expecting Jonny to be getting ready to go to work.

“Then he came upstairs with breakfast in bed and brought both our children in to the room. He knelt down on one knee by the side of the bed and proposed with a beautiful silver ring.

“I was completely over the moon and amazed when he told me his parents were coming to look after the children for three days as we were going to the jewellery quarter in Birmingham to choose a ring, having a night in a beautiful hotel there and then travelling first class to London to spend a night there and see the Lion King at the West End.

“It was all a complete surprise to me and was such a special and fantastic time; I couldn’t believe everything he had organised and planned without me having a clue about it!”

Jonathan, a joiner and building contractor, married Clare at St James Church, Leyland, on December 22, followed by a reception at Bartle Hall.

Guests were treated to a photobooth and sweet table, live music and a DJ, before the couple visited Chester for a ‘mini-moon’.
