Curry night in aid of Emmaus Preston

More than 80 people attended the event at Sai Surbhi Indian Restaurant, Bar and Lounge, in Preston and enjoyed a variety of Indian dishes and listened to talks from members of the Emmaus Preston community, including Karen Wallis who spoke to MPs in Parliament about her experiences.

Stephen Buchanan, director at Emmaus Preston, said: “Thanks to our local supporters we managed to raise more than £1,000 and more importantly our supporters had the chance to hear from Karen Wallis, whose life has changed thanks to Emmaus.

“I would like to thank all the people who attended and also thank the staff at Sai Surbhi for their lovely food and hospitality.”

Emmaus Preston supports formerly homeless people by providing them with a stable home and meaningful work for as long as they need it. The charity operates four shops, including a Megastore at the former B&Q in Preston, where they sell donated furniture, white goods, clothes, bikes and household goods.

The curry night was such a success, Emmaus Preston is looking to organise another food-themed fund-raiser later in the year.
