Youth in court for city centre stabbing

A 17-year-old was due to appear in court at Preston today following the stabbing of a teenager in the city centre on Monday.

The youth is charged with Section 18 wounding and also possession of a knife.

A 16-year-old boy - one of six people aged between 13 and 25 arrested during a police investigation into the incident near the Black Horse pub in Orchard Street/Friargate - remains in custody.

Four others have now been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police were called around 5pm on Monday to reports of a fight behind the Black Horse during which the 18 year old was stabbed.

He remains in a serious but stable condition in the Royal Preston Hospital where he was taken with a single stab wound to his stomach.
