A PREGNANT woman has been sentenced to 16 weeks in jail for biting her ex-partner’s bicep so hard she left him needing hospital treatment.
Drunk Michaela Houghton, 25, sunk her teeth so deeply into her fiance’s muscle he was left bleeding.
Preston Magistrates’ Court was told how Houghton, who was running late for her job at a taxi company, punched and bit her then boyfriend, security worker Martin Horbury, when he suggested she went into work. Houghton denied assault but she was later convicted.
Houghton admitted she had stabbed a previous boyfriend, who subjected her to domestic violence. The court heard Horbury had himself been cautioned for assaulting her - which he claimed was in self-defence during another incident.
Jailing Houghton, of Westfield Drive, Leyland, the chairman of the bench Trevor Cyrer said it was “a messy, violent incident where you used your teeth as a weapon.”
Houghton immediately lodged an appeal and the sentenced was put off until the appeal is concluded. No date has yet been set for the appeal, which will be heard at crown court.
