A 33-year-old woman was robbed after being attacked from behind at a street cash machine late at night.

Police say the victim was trying to withdraw cash when she was pulled to the ground by two men who stole £100 from her account and fled in a car.

The attack happened at around 12.10am on Wednesday in Lancashire Street, Morecambe.

Officers are now appealing for any information which might lead to the arrest of the men involved.

They say the woman was at the ATM and had just entered he PIN number when she was pulled backwards by her shoulders.

Each time she tried to get back to her feet she was knocked back to the floor as the men completed the cash withdrawal and then jumped into a black or dark coloured hatchback which was also believed to contain a woman.

DC Sarah Jackson from Lancaster CID said: “This was a frightening attack on a woman who was simply trying to access her own money at a cash machine.

“The offenders in this case are thought to be the man who was stood on the corner as well as the man who was behind the victim when she was at the cashpoint. We are keen to trace them and the woman in the getaway car.

“I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or indeed anyone with information about it at all.”
