WARNING: Thieves target cars in Bamber Bridge

Police have issued a warning to residents in Bamber Bridge after thieves were captured on CCTV stealing tools from a car.

The incident, which happened just after midnight on March 28, shows three shadowy figures wearing hoods and hats examining the contents of the vehicle.

Thieves stole tools from the car while it was parked on School Lane close to the junction of Brindle Road, police said.

The crime was captured on CCTV by Dan Whelan who shared his film on Twitter with the message: "People of Preston, make sure you lock your car at night."

Dan added: "Other people in the area said they had the same on School Lane two nights ago."

Police confirmed that there has been a spate of thefts from cars and sheds in the area over the past month.

A spokesman for the police said: "We have had a number of thefts from vehicles and sheds in the Bamber Bridge area over the past month. We would like to remind members of the public to ensure that their vehicles and sheds are properly secured.

"Our investigations into this particular case are on-going and we are appealing for witnesses to contact the police on 101."
