This is the moment a driver was caught speeding on Brockholes Brow, where two people were killed crossing the road just over a year ago.

Filmed at 7.25pm yesterday, the footage released by road police shows the motorist was travelling at 70mph - seemingly unaware he was being followed by officers.

He has now been reported, and will become one of the first to be fined under the new sentencing guidelines, which came into effect last week.

Last April, 23-year-old Rachel Marie Murphy and 17-year-old Shelby Maher were hit by a BMW while crossing Brockholes Brow.

Rachel died at the scene, while Shelby succumbed to her injuries after being taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

A 25-year-old Blackburn man, Mohmen Salma Patel, is set to appear in court at a future date - yet to be confirmed - accused to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

Earlier this year, the Post revealed how average speed cameras are set to be installed on Brockholes Brow, a major route into Preston, following a series of accidents.
