A vehicle hire firm has been hit by a devastating burglary with £300k worth of vehicles stolen.

CCTV images show four men breaking into Easirent’s Queen Street office in Wigan in the early hours of Saturday morning, spending a staggering five hours taking a total of 15 vans and cars.

Bosses and staff have been left devastated by the incident with managing director Nick Hanley saying it has put the company’s future in jeapordy.

The brazen thieves began their spree at 1am with pubs, bars and clubs still open just yards away in the town centre.

Footage shows them breaking through the gate at around 1am before taking a safe with spare keys in it.

The men first took Mr Hanley’s Range Rover car before spending the next few hours taking hire vehicles away and returning for more each time.

You can cope with them taking one but 15 vehicles could wipe us out

The theft is even more shocking given the large amount of people in the vicinity with CCTV showing a large number of other vehicles driving by and not even noticing anything was going on.

“It’s absolutely devastating,” said Mr Hanley.

“They came and got the Range Rover keys and then they put the safe in the back of it and took it away.

“All the spare keys were in the safe and they just kept coming back over the next few hours to take the other vehicles.

“It’s just abslutely brazen with the time it was at, I can’t believe nobody didn’t see anything. The staff are all devastated.

“You can cope with them taking one but 15 vehicles could wipe us out.”

The company has offered a £1,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to a conviction.

A police spokesman confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the incident and that six vehicles have already been located. A full statement and update is expected later today (Monday).

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
