A MAN who took a Ford Transit van without permission has admitted a string of offences.

Mark William Downie, of Norfolk Close, Leyland, must do 100 hours unpaid work after pleading guilty to taking a vehicle without consent, and driving without insurance or a licence after an incident on June 4.

The 26-year-old also admitted dishonestly handling a stolen flat screen television worth £2,171 on the same date.

Preston Magistrates’ Court heard the television had been stolen from Andrew Porter Ltd in Leyland.

Downie must also pay a £60 victim surcharge, £120 prosecution costs and a £180 criminal court charge.
