Three people have been charged over allegations of abuse at a care home.

All three were charged on Wednesday with being a carer involved in the ill treatment and wilful neglect of a person with lack of capacity at Briarwood Care Home in Lostock Hall, near Preston.

Indranee Pumbien, 58, of Grosvenor Place, Preston, is charged with 20 offences of being a carer involved in the ill treatment and wilful neglect of a person with lack of capacity contrary to the Mental Capacity Act.

She is also charged with two offences of committing an act with the intent to pervert the pervert the course of justice.

Meghadeven Pumbien, 62, also of Grosvenor Place, Preston, is charged with three offences of being a carer involved in the ill treatment and wilful neglect of a person with lack of capacity contrary to the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

He is also charged with one offence of committing an act with the intent to pervert the course of justice.

Niphawan Berry, 41, of Christ Church Street, Preston, is charged with one offence of Section 20 wounding contrary to the Offences against the Person Act 1861 and two offences of being a carer involved in the ill treatment and wilful neglect of a person with lack of capacity contrary to the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
