Teenager held after stabbing and gun alert in Preston area

Police have tonight released details of incidents in the Longton,Tarleton and Bretherton areas in which a man was stabbed.

A teenage boy is in police custody after incidents today (Saturday) in which a man received a superficial stab wound and two other people were threatened with an imitation firearm.

A Lancashire police spokesman said: “We were initially called at approximately 2.45pm ‎to Hesketh Lane, Tarleton, after a man reported he’d had a handgun pointed at him.

“A second man called at around 3.45pm from an address in Bretherton reporting being threatened by a man in possession of what appeared to be a firearm.

“We were then called at around 4.20pm to an address in Longton, where it was reported a man had received a superficial stab wound to his arm. He is currently receiving treatment in hospital and his injury is not thought to be serious.

“A 15-year-old boy from Hesketh Bank was arrested at the scene and is currently in hospital awaiting a mental health assessment.

DI Roger Ashcroft of Lancashire Police said: “We would like to reassure the public that these incidents, albeit separate, were isolated and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with them. The firearm was also found to be an imitation.
