A criminal has been jailed for a total of 24 weeks after a racist incident involving police officers.

Jack Murphy, 27, of Cedar Road, Ribbleton, Preston, admitted using racially aggravated threatening behaviour on September 6 last year.

The bench ruled custody was necessary because he was on bail at the time, and had attacked a public servant carrying out public duties, and said he had a “flagrant disregard” for court orders.

Murphy hit the headlines in 2008 when the bungling thief was caught on CCTV in a police sting almost being struck by a brick he had thrown at a car that bounced back at him.
