A man who breached a restraining order against a woman has been jailed for 20 weeks.

Pavan Singh, 23, of Arnhem Road, Preston, committed the offences against a victim he had previously assaulted, a court heard.

Preston Magistrates’ Court ruled a custodial sentence was necessary because he had previously offended against the same complainant and his inability to control his behaviour towards her.

He was found guilty of four breaches of the harassment order over September and October, as well as breaching a suspended sentence that was imposed in August for beating her.

The court heard he had phoned his victim, and entered Miller Road when prohibited from doing so.

He was also found guilty of driving while disqualified and without insurance.
