Police have arrested two men after a suspected stolen car was stung in Grimsargh.

Officers say that a silver Volkswagen Touran was reported stolen from an address in Fulwood at around 3.30am on August 14.

It was later spotted by patrols at around 5am on Preston Road heading towards Ribchester, they added.

The police helicopter was also called in to assist.

A spokesman for the police said: "The car which was believed to be stolen was spotted heading towards Ribchester.

"The car was directed towards a successful preemptive sting.

"All four tyres on the car were blown out and the car came to a stop after making contact with the police car.
