Police have renewed their appeal for help tracing three men who robbed a Preston shop of £50,000.

The gang, armed with baseball bats and machetes, struck at McColls newsagents in Ribbleton Avenue at around 7.15am on Friday October 31 as staff and a security guard were filling a cash machine inside the store.

The security guard suffered a slight cut on the hip during the attack. It is thought the men drove away from the shop in a black Audi S3 car, driven by a fourth man, which has since been recovered. But officers are still keen to trace a distinctive bright red Nissan GTR (Skyline) seen driving away from the scene.

Detectives have now released CCTV footage of the raid. DS Jerry Sturgess of Preston CID said: “We are making good progress with our investigation and we are re-appealing to the public for their help.

“But I must warn criminals who carry out cash in transit robberies that the whole force is stepping up our fight against them in the run up to Christmas.”
