Police have issued a warning after scams were reported on petrol station forecourts in Preston, over the last four weeks.

Officers say people have been offered gold curb bracelets and sovereign rings at bargain prices, with those offering the jewellery claiming they have run out of money and need to pay for fuel to get home.

Police are warning it is a scam, with elderly people being targeted.

They say the jewellery is gold plated metal, with a “hallmark”.
