Police are appealing for information after a substantial amount of cash was stolen from a village pub while the landlady was distracted.
Officers believe the theft from the Cavendish Arms in Brindle happened around 9.30am when the landlady was asked to go outside by a man enquiring about putting a skip on the car park.
While she was outside, someone sneaked into the pub and made off with the money.
“It is not known whether the man enquiring about the skip is connected to this burglary and so we need him to come forward so we can eliminate him from our investigation,” said PC Jay Percy from Chorley Police.
The man is described as white, stocky, around 5ft 10ins, in his early 30s wearing a denim jacket and jeans with pale blue pumps. He may have spoken with a foreign accent.
Call police on 101.
