Two men have been summonsed to court following a spate of hoax fire service call outs at a block of flats in Preston.

Fire engines were repeatedly called out to the Lincoln House tower block off Avenham Lane, Avenham, in June, with two to three engines attending on each occasion.

It is understood the case centres around the glass in safety points in the building allegedly being broken, triggering the alarm.

Two men who live close by are expected to appear before Preston Magistrates’ Court on December 4 accused of causing a false alarm of fire after a probe was launched by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.

Jonathan Palgrave, 31, of Avenham Lane, who is accused of incidents on June 10 and 22.

His co-defendant Peter Robinson-Ashworth, 30, and also of Avenham Lane, is accused of the same offences on June 10, 22 and 23.
