A man who dropped a package of drugs out of his trousers when police stopped him in on a street notorious for drug activity has been given a suspended jail term.
Dwayne Barnes, 23, of Stratford Road, Chorley was wanted for another offence of breaching a suspended sentence when police stopped him on Fishergate Hill, Preston, on December 29, 2013.
As officers spoke to him he dropped a packet, Preston Crown Court heard.
Prosecuting, Charlie Brown said: “It was found to contain 26 wraps of cocaine powder and crack cocaine which were later tested and found to be of 27% purity.”
The drugs were estimated to have a value of up to £900.
Barnes was arrested, and when asked why he had the drugs he replied he “found them”.
He later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply.
Judge Michael Byrne imposed an 18 month jail term suspended for two years and ordered 18 months supervision.
