Man attacked in Chorley no longer in a critical condition

A man who was attacked in Chorley town centre is no longer in a critical condition.

Martin Catterall, 30, from Lostock Hall, was left with life threatening injuries and on a life support machine after he was attacked in Chorley town centre.

Mr Catterall had been out with friends on Sunday, November 30.

Mr Catterall was found lying in the street with head injuries just after midnight and was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where he underwent an operation.

The incident happened at the junction of Union Street and Park Road.

Lancashire Police has confirmed that Mr Catterall is no longer in a critical condition and he is now stable.

Jonathan Fitzsimmons, of Westfield Drive, Leyland, has been charged with section 18 wounding with intent, and was remanded in custody,

He will now face a trial at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday, May 19.
