A man has been arrested by police in relation to an incident where a dog was repeatedly punched.

The violent assault which left the animal petrified, was recorded by a witness who reported it and passed the footage to the RSPCA.

The incident took place in Hendon Road, Nelson, at around 3-15pm on Thursday, December 10th.

The RSPCA received a tip off last night as to the identity and whereabouts of the man and the dog and this morning a joint operation involving the charity, the police and Pendle’s dog warden took place which saw the man arrested and the dog seized.

RSPCA Insp. Charlotte Booker said: “A 37-year-old man from the local area has been arrested and the dog has been seized and is now in the care of the RSPCA.”
