AN anonymous tip-off led to police snaring a drink driver.

Lee Newsham, 32, of Chartwell Rise, Lostock Hall, Preston, was described as making “half-hearted” attempts to take a breathaliser test, Blackpool magistrates heard.

The landscape gardener pleaded guilty to failing to provide a breath specimen and was disqualified for 14 months, fined £220 with £85 costs and ordered to pay a £150 court charge and £20 surcharge by District Judge Alan Jones.

PRESTON: A man has admitted a charge of using racially aggravated threatening behaviour.

Gareth Michael Crook, 33, of Morris Crescent, Ribbleton, was involved in an incident in June, a bench heard.

Preston Magistrates’ Court ruled he must pay a £70 fine, £20 surcharge, £85 costs and a £150 court charge.

PRESTON: A woman who admits making a fraudulent claim for a road traffic accident is to be sentenced on August 10.

Suzanne Leach, 45, of Hurst Green, Mawdesley, Chorley, will appear before Preston Crown Court after entering pleas in an appearance before Ormskirk magistrates.

CHIPPING: Robert Leniewski, 34, of Fox Street, Preston, admits being in Kirk Mill, Chipping, for an unlawful purpose in April.

Magistrates discharged him for 24 months but he must pay a £15 surcharge and £85 costs.

HEYSHAM: A lorry driver has pleaded guilty to a string of offences relating to tachograph records.

David Bamford, of St James’ Court, Heysham, Lancaster, was ordered to pay fines totalling £250.

Preston Magistrates’ Court ruled the 33-year-old driver must also pay costs of £300 and a £50 surcharge.

PRESTON: A motorist who drove while disqualified has been jailed for six weeks for a “flagrant disregard” of a court order.

Jordan Lee Murray, 21, of Devonshire Place, Preston, admitted the offence to Preston Magistrates Court.

He must pay an £80 surcharge and £150 court charge.

LANCASTER: Liam Dougherty, 29, of Lindsey Court, Morecambe, has been jailed for four weeks for stealing a woman’s handbag in Lancaster and must pay a £80 surcharge, £85 costs and a £150 court charge.

Stuart Campbell, 34, of Alexandra Street, Preston, was found guilty of failing to give a driver’s identification and must pay a £600 fine, £60 surcharge and £85 costs.

Paul Grant, 48, of Kimberley Street, Coppull, was found guilty of driving without insurance and must pay a £600 fine, £60 surcharge and £85 costs.

Daniel Ross, 18, of Arnside Road, Ashton, was discharged for 12 months after admitting possessing cannabis and must pay a £15 surcharge, £85 costs and a £180 court charge.

David Green, 41, of Yew Tree Avenue, Ribbleton, Preston, was given a restraining order after admitting assaulting a woman and must do 80 hours unpaid work and pay a £60 surcharge, £85 costs and a £150 court charge.

Leon Stafford, 19, of St Anne’s Road, Chorley, was discharged for 12 months after admitting possessing cannabis and must pay a £15 surcharge, and £85 costs.

Elizabeth Howarth, 33, of Duke Street, Bamber Bridge, admits assaulting a man and must pay a £400 fine, £40 surcharge, £85 costs and a £150 court charge.

Jan Wycik, 55, of Harerogg, Bamber Bridge, was given a three year discharge after admitting assaulting a woman and must pay a £15 surcharge, £35 costs and a £150 court charge.

Danny Moffatt, 35, of Southport Road, Chorley, was discharged for 12 months after admitting possessing diazepam and must pay a £15 surcharge, £85 costs and a £180 court charge.

Neil Baines, 28, of Delamere Place, Chorley, was discharged for 12 months after admitting being drunk and disorderly and must pay a £15 surcharge, £50 costs and a £150 court charge.
