M6 motorist banned

A man caught driving on the M6 at Leyland while disqualified has been given a 12-week jail term suspended for a year and a 30-month road ban.

Brett Skapars, 25, of Royal Avenue, Leyland, was spotted in a Renault Clio on December 10, Preston magistrates heard.

He also admits driving without insurance. The offences put him in breach of a suspended sentence.

He must pay an £80 surcharge and £85 costs.

PRESTON: A man is to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court over touching a woman and assaulting a man.

Sean Smith, 28, of Ringwood Road, Preston, was found guilty of sexually touching a woman on September 27.

He admits assaulting a man by beating the following day.

He is due to appear in the dock on February 9.

CHORLEY: Philip Clitheroe, of Lakeland Gardens, Chorley, admitted assaulting a relative on October 3.

The bench at Preston Magistrates’ Court imposed a rehabilitation activity requirement.

The 33-year-old was also ordered to pay a £140 fine, £60 surcharge, and £85 prosecution costs.

PRESTON: Aziz Ali, 53, of Maple Crescent, Preston, was found guilty of using threatening behaviour towards a man.

Preston magistrates discharged him for 12 months but ordered him to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £100 costs.

PRESTON: A man is banned from the Curry’s store on Deepdale Retail Park for six months after admitting stealing £459 of electrical goods.

Preston Magistrates’ Court ordered Sean Singleton Samuel Kellett, 27, Ribbleton Lane, Preston, to do 40 hours of unpaid work and pay £459.97 compensation, a £60 surcharge and £85 costs.

PRESTON: Jennifer Duffy, 34, of Maitland Street, Ribbleton, Preston, admitted assaulting a man in Preston in an incident on August 2.

She was conditionally discharged for six months by Preston Magistrates’ Court but must pay £100 compensation to her victim as well as a £15 surcharge and £25 costs.

CHORLEY: Alexander James Rodgers, 40, of Hidings Court Lane, Morecambe, admitted assaulting a man in Chorley.

He was given a curfew and must pay £50 compensation, and a £60 surcharge.

Darren Lacey, 41, of Brock Road, Chorley, admits breaching a restraining order by phoning and texting a woman and must do 60 hours’ unpaid work and pay a £60 surcharge and £85 costs.

Rian Winspare, 22, of Seymour Street, Chorley, was discharged for 24 months after admitting damaging a window but must pay £200 compensation, a £15 surcharge and £85 costs.

Paul Close, 47, of Green Lane, Lancaster, must pay a £220 fine, £22 surcharge and £85 costs after being found guilty of using a phone while driving.

Martin Baines, 52, of Slaidburn Drive, Lancaster, must pay a £220 fine, £22 surcharge and £85 costs after being found guilty of flouting a red traffic light.

Dean Catt, 22, of Higher Road, Longridge, is banned from the road for 12 months after admitting driving without insurance and must pay a £120 fine, £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Ashraf Desai, 28, of Deepdale Road, Preston, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £660 fine, £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Timothy Dugdale, 47, of Wade Brook Road, Leyland, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £660 fine, £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Claire Fryer, 33, of Lea Road, Lea Town, Preston, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £660 fine, £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Leigh Orriss, 40, of Beaumont Place, Lancaster, is banned from Booths on Sharoe Green Lane, Preston, for six months and must do 40 hours unpaid work after admitting stealing a laptop from the supermarket.
