The 31-year-old appeared before Preston Magistrates’ Court where he admitted trespassing in the building, assaulting a police constable and breaching a suspended sentence.

At the time of the offences he was subject to a suspended term imposed for stealing a phone.

The bench said the offences were both aggravated by his previous criminal record.

Hope was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115, but no compensation or costs were ordered because of his limited means.

A man who flouted environmental legislation has been ordered to pay a £50 fine by magistrates.

Preston Magistrates’ Court heard David Mitchell, of Queensway, Leyland, had been seen sorting or disturbing waste whilst at the Sita Waste disposal site on Flensberg Way in Leyland.

But at the time the 40-year-old defendant had no permit to entitle him to sort or deal with waste, which is required by law.

The offence happened on August 28 last year, the bench was told.
