Drink driving shame

A WOMAN who was caught driving while nearly five times the legal limit has been banned from the road for five years.

Monica Rowena Depol, 39, of Princes Reach, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, was given an 18 week jail term suspended for two years after Preston magistrates were told of the high reading when she was stopped by officers.

She was ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work and pay an £80 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

PRESTON: Bradley Stuart Watson Swarbrick, 20, of School Street, Bamber Bridge, near Preston, was found guilty of dishonestly receiving a stolen goods, Aprilia scooter worth £900.

He was ordered to pay a £120 fine, a victim surcharge of £20 and £200 costs after a trial took place before Preston Magistrates’ Court.

LEYLAND: A man who stole a haul of 32 bags from a textiles shop has been ordered to do 60 hours of unpaid work.

Donatas Smolskas, 24, of Keswick Street, Rochdale, targeted the East London Textiles shop in Leyland on February 2 stealing fabric worth £140.

Magistrates also ordered him to pay a £60 surcharge.

PRESTON: Gourpeaj Singh, 37, of Ashfield Road, Chorley, was jailed for 13 weeks by Preston magistrates after admitting assaulting a man and a woman in his family.

The bench said he had a disregard for court orders.

PRESTON: Martin Latham, 27, of St George’s Road, Preston, was given a prohibited activity requirements banning him contacting a woman or going near her home in Clayton le Woods order after admitting assaulting her.

Preston magistrates also imposed a restraining order and rehabilitation activity requirement.

PRESTON: Thomas Robinson, 49, of Franklands Drive, Greenlands, Preston, was discharged conditionally for 12 months by magistrates after admitting soliciting a prostitute on January 10 on St Mary’s Street, Deepdale, Preston, but was ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

LEYLAND: Callum Livesley, 21, of Fieldway, Wigan, was discharged for six months after admitting smuggling a legal high into HMP Wymott on Christmas Eve.

Magistrates told him he must pay a £15 surcharge.

Court snaps

Trasiah Lester, 28, of Haydock Close, Birmingham, must do 40 hours unpaid work after admitting damaging a door and assaulting a woman in Preston, and must pay a £60 surcharge and £100 costs.

Ilja Gorsenins, 34, of Porter Street East, Wesham, near Preston, was banned for 18 months after admitting failing to give a breath test and driving without insurance or a licence, and must pay a £280 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

Dean Smith, 44, of Butler’s Meadow, Warton, was banned for 12 months after admitting drink driving and must pay a £235 fine, £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Michael McCue, 25, of Higher Croft, Penwortham, was discharged for 12 months after admitting destroying a Hoover but 
must pay a £15 surcharge and £85 costs.

Anthony Ward, 18 of Whittingham Lane, Broughton, was discharged for two years after admitting damaging a toilet to the value of £100 but must pay £50 compensation and a £15 surcharge and £85 costs.

Thomas Christopher Waugh, 21, of Greenwood Street, Preston, was given a curfew and restraining order after admitting using threatening behaviour towards a man and a woman and was ordered to have alcohol treatment.

Ashley Dalley, 27, of no fixed abode, admits breaching a restraining order to contact a Chorley woman and has been jailed for 12 weeks.

Michael Ashton, 35, of Garstang Road, Preston, was banned for six months after being found guilty of failing to give driver ID and must pay a £375 fine, £35 surcharge and £85 costs.

Denise Hurley, 47, Wellbrow Drive, Longridge, Preston, admits using threatening behaviour and must pay an £80 fine and £20 surcharge.
