Police are looking for the five people in this Preston “Rogues Gallery” after three brazen thefts in the city.
The most audacious crime saw an Asian woman in flowing robes and a hijab steal one of the latest all-in-one computers worth almost £1,000 from a store by hiding it under her clothing.
Accompanied by another female and a male, both also described as Asian and “well-dressed,” the woman calmly placed the 23-inch touchscreen in a special harness under her robes before walking out of PC World in Blackpool Road, Deepdale. The theft happened on April 2.
A police spokesman said: “An Asian male was seen to enter the store and unplug the stolen display monitor.
Then the three people in the picture enter the shop and walk around for a while.
The male then picked the monitor up and the larger of the two ladies pulled up her robes and placed it in some form of adapted harness. The younger female was seen to be assisting her and keeping her covered.”
The stolen computer is an HP Pavilion TouchSmart 23-F311EA All-In-One which has a 23-inch display.
It normally retails at £949.99.
In the second incident a man in a checked shirt got away with cash from the Tesco Express store in Tulketh Mill, Blackpool Road, after deceiving two members of staff into giving him both change and his original £20 note.
The third theft happened when a teenage boy left a bag with an X-Box in the upstairs of McDonald’s restaurant in Friargate.
When he returned minutes later the bag had gone.
Cameras identified a young heavily-built male leaving the premises with the bag.
