Horrified locals spotted a stark naked man performing a lewd act on his doorstep in the early hours of the morning.
Preston Magistrates’ Court was told resident Carl Waddicar caused “shock and disgust” when he was seen standing at the open door of his home on Beacon Avenue, Fulwood, Preston, behaving inappropriately.
The 46-year-old, wearing a grey suit, pleaded guilty to a charge of exposing himself on December 15 last year, during a hearing at the court.
Prosecuting, Martin Bardsley said: “It was around 7.30am and the complainant could see Mr Waddicar in the lobby of his home as he was preparing to go to work.
“He couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“The defendant was completely naked with the light on and he was performing an act for around two minutes.
“He describes feeling shocked and appalled.”
Police visited Waddicar’s home as a result of a complaint by a family.
In an interview, he denied the allegation, saying he had been wearing a “full length dressing gown” and had opened the door to work on his bicycle.
Defending, Steve Scott said the full time worker had never come to the attention of the courts or shown any similar behaviour.
He added: “He has shown great remorse and is deeply ashamed.”
The district judge said: “This is a serious offence.
“It may be towards the bottom end of sexual offending but all sexual offences are serious.”
He imposed a nine-month community order with a curfew and ordered him to pay £25 compensation to four people, a £30 surcharge and £85 costs.
