The bodies of an elderly man and woman have been found at a house in Astley Village.

Police were called to a property shortly before 4.20pm on Tuesday following a report of the sudden death of a woman.

Officers attended and found the body of a 76-year-old woman.

Also in the house was the body of an 81-year-old man, who is believed to have been dead for some time.

While their deaths are currently being treated as unexplained, there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances at this stage and police are liaising closely with HM Coroner.

A post mortem to establish the cause of their deaths will take place in due course.

Officers are appealing for anyone any information that could assist with their inquiries to contact them on 101 quoting log number 879 of April 14.
