A man was captured on CCTV jumping on the bonnet of a police car.

British Transport Police officers are appealing for help after one of its vehicles was extensively damaged whilst parked up at Lancaster station.

Investigating officer PC Alex Fernie said: “This reckless criminal damage could have had far reaching and potentially devastating consequences had officers needed to use the vehicle to respond to an emergency.

“The man smashed two windows before jumping on the bonnet of the car and smashing the windscreen. Not content with the damage he had done he then went on to slash the tyres.”

Officers have released images of the damage to the car along with a CCTV image of the man on the bonnet of the vehicle.

The incident took place at 4.40am on Thursday, November 12.
